ALROSA Company asks the Government to abolish the import taxes for small diamonds. Such an announcement was made by the Vice President of the company Sergey Ulin. He explained that it is very important in order to diversify Russian diamond sector and to increase processing volumes. Thus, now 78% of diamonds mined in Russia are mined in Yakutia, but only 7% are processed locally.

The Head of the Ministry of Economic Development German Gref informed that the Ministry is ready to implement this measure but it is necessary first to define small diamonds and large diamonds. Mr. Gref asked ALROSA Company to form an offer in the nearest future and to provide it to the Ministry.
