According to PRIME-TASS, in 2007 Russian gold mining companies will reduce gold prospecting and production by 3-3.5 tons. This may happen due to exhausted condition of alluvial deposits and social and economic problems in gold mining areas.

Last year Russian refining plants got 164.321 tons of gold – by 2.23% less than in 2005 (168.068 tons ).

The Union of Gold Manufacturers informs that in 2006 gold mining amounted to 147.619 tons (in 2005 – 152.063 tons).
