In January – October 2006 the volume of jewellery production in Armenia amounted to 74.4 bln drams, the volume of jewellery trade – 75 bln drams. These figures reduced by 19.7% and 17.6% respectively as compared with the same period last year.

This information was provided by the department of jewellery sector of the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development. The decrease is considered to associate with the crisis in the world market and the abrupt cut of diamonds import from Russia.
