As it has been reported by ITAR-TASS, the Government of Uzbekistan has cancelled the licence for gold and non-ferrous metals mining from British Oxus Gold.

Oxus Gold explored a large polymetal deposit Khandiza. The resources (gold, silver, copper and zinc) of the deposit were estimated at 14/4 mln tons.

It is expected that the licence for the deposit exploration will be passed to Almalyk Mining Complex.

At the same time American Newmont Mining was deprived of the licence for gold mining in Kyzylkum desert. Newmont owns 50% of Zeravshan Newmont but the assets of this joint venture have been arrested due to investigations on taxes-connected issues taking place.
