About 80% of jewellery in Russian market are illegal. Such an announcement was made by the deputy chairman of MMC Norilsk Nickel Yuriy Kotlyar. In particular, he mentioned that such jewellery is exported from Turkey and India.

At the conference devoted to Russian jewellery sector that was held in the building of ITAR-TASS there was an emphasis made on the importance of the State control over jewellery production. Now only 30 offices assay and mark jewellery in Russia, while the number of jewellery companies exceeds 3000.
