The decrease that has been taking place in the world jewellery market recently has effected Armenian jewellery sector as well. In January-April 2006 jewellery production in Armenia amounted to $64.5 mln – 27% fall as compared with the same period in 2005.

In addition, this reduction is associated with such reasons as insufficient infrastructure of jewellery sector. This information was provided by the head of jewellery department of Armenian Ministry of Trade and Economic Development, Gagik Mkrtchyan.
