In 2005 Norilsk Nickel significantly increased palladium mining, as it has been reported by RIA Press-Line. According to USGS, the world total palladium production amounted to 216 tons. As compared with 2004, palladium mining increased by 28 tons, Russia having the largest growth 0 by 22 tons up to 96 tons of the metal. Russian MMC Norilsk Nickel controls about 40% of the world palladium market.
