Silver coin was sold for $350 000
Moscow numismatic company Coins and Medals organised an auction on April 15, 2006. The auction was devoted to Russian rare coins and medals, 450 lots were put up for tenders. As it has been reported by the organisers, most part of the collection was sold.
The top lot of the auction was the silver coin issued in 1845 with the portrait of the Emperor Nikolai I. It was sold for $350 000, with its starting price being $300 000. This coin is one of the rarest of the period and has never been presented at auctions.
