According to Prime-TASS, in January – March 2006 gold mining companies of Irkutsk region nearly doubled the result of the same period last year and prospected 997 kg of the precious metal.

Last year 15.2 tons of gold were mined in the region. In 2006 the quota amounts to 17527 kg.
