Mineral Agency referring to Interfax reports that in 2005 Russia decreased its gold production by 3.5% as compared to 2004 – down to 168032 kg. According to the Union of Gold Manufacturers, gold mining reduced by 4.3% down to 152026 kg.

Now Russian jewellery producers use about 40 tons of gold a year, banks – about 100 tons.
