Faberge at Bonhams - A New Russian Sale For London
Based on materials from www.bonhams.com
Bonhams is proud to announce its inaugural Russian Sale, to be held at 101 New Bond Street on 28 November. With celebrated works by Russian masters such as Shishkin, Malevich, Aivazovsky and Faberge featuring among the sale's top lots, this Ј2-3 million sale looks set to generate much excitement among collectors of Russian art and culture. It will include all elements of Russian art: paintings, silver, jewellery, porcelain, icons, medals and books.
Martyn Saunders-Rawlins, Bonhams' Russian consultant, is excited by the interest already generated by Bonhams' first ever sale entirely devoted to Russian art. "The desire to collect has always been in Russian blood, and the market has recently witnessed a phenomenal rise in the sales of Russian paintings and art," he said. "Buying such works as Bonhams offers in this auction gives both Russians and collectors from all over the world the opportunity to express their interest in Russian culture, and to form new and important collections. I am delighted to have put this sale together, which holds many significant and beautiful works, and I am confident it will be very positively received."
A lovely array of jewellery and Faberge works of art, including a Russian gold bracelet with seven miniature Easter eggs circa 1900 at up to Ј15,000, will delight collectors and private buyers alike. An extremely fine and rare Patek Philippe & Co pocket watch made for the Russian market in 1890 is estimated at Ј18,000 - 22,000, and features an 18ct rose gold case and an open face perpetual calendar.
