Results of numismatic auction
On October 15 Moscow numismatic company Coins and Medals held an auction “Russian collection coins and medals”. 448 lots – rare Russian coins and medals made of gold, silver, platinum and copper – were put up for the tenders, 80% of them were sold.
The top-lot of the auction was the golden medal issued after the death of Alexander III, it was sold for its starting price - $55 000. The second most expensive lot was the golden medal devoted to the battle in Abo, August 28, 1913. It was bought for $48000, while the starting price being $30 000.
As for silver coins, it is worth mentioning the sale of a rare coin of 1725 for $44000 – considerable increase from $20000. A rouble coined in 1741 was bought for $45 000 with it starting price being $35 000. The price of a rare platinum coin of 1830 nearly doubled too – from $25000 to $44 000.
The results of the auction showed the growing interest to collection coins and medals.
