In 2006 Armenian diamonds cutting industry will continue reducing its expenses
According to ARKA Agency, in 2006 Armenian diamonds cutting industry will continue reducing its expenses. Such a tendency was launched this year due to Russian diamonds market liberalisation – prices for raw diamonds have changed and Armenian diamonds cutting companies will have to adopt it.
According to the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and Armenia, Russia is to supply Armenia with up to 400 thou ct of diamonds in 2002-2004 and up to 450 thou ct of diamonds in 2005-2006. However, as a result of changes in Russian diamonds market, Armenia is not able to buy the quotas planned in 2004 and 2005.
