According to YASIA, the Minister of Finances of Russia Alexey Kudrin expressed his opinion on the future of Russian diamond monopolist ALROSA during his speech devoted to the 50th jubilee of Russia’s diamonds mining.

In particular, during his speech Mr Kudrin mentioned that ALROSA Company will become a world leader in diamonds mining and sales.

Last year the net profit of the company doubled as compared to 2003 figures. This year the results are expected to be even higher – in 2005 it is expected that ALROSA will mine diamonds $2.185 worth and its net profit will amount to RUR 14.8 bln.

Mr Kudrin supported as well the idea of the company’s activity diversification such as cutting production launching, geographic diversification and investing in other fields, for example, gold and coal mining. Earlier the same opinion was expressed by the President of Yakutia Vyacheslav Shtyrov.
