The gold mining companies of Yakutia (Sakha Republic) in January – July 2005 reduced mining volumes by 4.8% down to 8.9952 tons (the same period last year 9.4452 tons of gold were mined). This information was provided by PRIME-TASS.

This year 64 companies are involved in gold mining in the Republic, while the total figure of mining enterprises being 77. The main problem associated with the gold mining reduce is technical equipment problem. In order to solve it, a special programme financed by ALROSA has been developed.

In 2005 Yakut gold mining companies plan to get 21.1 tons of gold that exceeds last year results by 4.57%. The Gold Manufacturers Union of Russia forecasts that this year the volume of gold mined will increase up to 183 tons (in 2004 180.5 tons of gold were mined).
