As it has been reported by PRIME-TASS, by 2010 Buryatiya Repubic gold mining companies plan to increase the production by 250% up to 20 tons.

In 2004 8.03 tons of gold were mined in the Republic. In 2007 it is planned to prospect 12.7 tons of the precious metal.

The main gold miner in Buryatiya is OJSC Buryatzoloto (BRZL), it’s a-shares belonging to Canadian High River Gold. In 2004 the company mined 4.829 tons of gold, it exploits Samarta, Zun-Kholba, Irokinda and Eleninskiy Kachey deposits.
