Russia will increase cut diamonds exports
Kommersant-Dengi published the announcement of Russian Minister of Finance Alexei Kudrin about the development of Russian diamonds cutting industry. Mr Kudrin mentioned that Russia would decrease raw diamonds export and would enhance its position at the world market of cut gemstones. Now Russia is lessening the volumes of raw diamonds sold to De Beers and strengthening the domestic cutting sector. This announcement was made on the ceremony of Lomonosov mine launch.
Lomonosov diamonds deposit is the largest one in Eurasia. It consists of six kimberlitic pipes and was discovered in 1980. The resources of the deposit are estimated at $12 bln.
