From June 14 to 16 2005 a scientific workshop was held in Smolensk. The event was devoted to colour diamonds certification. Among the workshop participants there were the experts of Russian diamond industry including the representatives of JSC ALROSA, Almazyuvelirexport, GOKHRAN of Russia, Assay Office and scientific organisations. The reports were made about theoretic and technical problems of colour diamonds certification, their nature, classification, criteria and terms.

As a result, there was the decision made to develop the norms of colour diamonds certification (classification, terms and characteristics).
