Gold mining regions of Russia – rating
In 2004 Russian gold mining industry remained the tendencies of its development that is taking place in the recent five years:
- gold mining volume remaining at the same level,
- further increase of ore gold in its mining,
- sector restructuring by merging and large companies organisation,
- enhancement of geological searching financed by gold mining companies,
- foreign companies growing interest and activities in Russian gold market.
40 Russian regions (out of 89) have gold resources but only 32 have gold mining, six of them being leaders and providing 78.4% of Russian gold. In 2004 13 Russian key regions mined 98.3% of the metal in the country.
