As it has been announced by the Ambassador of Russian in Armenia Anatoly Dryukov, this year Russian diamonds supplies volume will be regained. He said that such a decision was made during the negotiations that are taking place now.

According to the agreement signed by Russia and Armenia, JSC ALROSA and Almazyuvelirexport will supply Armenia with 400 thou ct annually 2002-2004 and 450 thou ct in 2005-2006. However, as a result of Russian diamond market liberalisation Armenia is not able to buy the diamonds quotas for the recent two years. In particular, last year Armenia imported 140 thou ct instead of 400 thou ct planned.
