On January 31, 2005, Jewellery Business Forum started working. The event is organised by business-centre 6 Carats and supported by Jewellers Guild of Russia. The winter forum has gathered about 50 representatives from 16 Russian and CIS cities.

During the first day of the event there were several reports made including one made by Jewellers Guild of Russia CEO Valeriy Radashevich. He informed about the key tendencies of the domestic jewellery market development and the activity of the Association in connection with the new Tax Code amendments. He mentioned several figures on jewellery production and sale. Thus, in 2004 Russian jewellers produced 27 mln golden jewellery pcs that is 67.5 tons. Comparing to 2003 golden jewellery import last year increased by 23.2%. In 2004 Russian jewellery companies made 21.5 mln silver jewellery pcs totally weighing 114 tons, 27 tons (4.5 mln pcs) of them were imported. Last year palladium jewellery production grew insignificantly and amounted to 9 thou pcs weighing 38 kg.
