The Federal Mining Agency has announced a contest for gold searching works conducting in Vologda region (Nikolskaya area).

Gold is not the only precious metal that is being searched in the region. A private company has been for along time exploiting Vologda region for diamonds. However, now the works are said to stop due to lack of financing.
