Ukrainian Ministry of Finance has estimated the results of 2004 in the sphere of precious metals and gemstones turnover. In particular, in 2003 the State Fund of precious metals of Ukraine transferred 6.6 mln grivnas to the country’s budget that is 109.9% of planned transfer. In 2004 this figure was even increased up to 14496.8 thou grivnas or 116.9%. This information was provided by LIGABusinessInform.

In two years the State Assay Office held 6149 control events and in 649 cases fined companies, with total sum being 3851 thou grivnas.

Jewellery production volumes in the country are increasing. In 2003 20775 kg of jewellery were assayed and in 2004 — 31432 kg.

In 2003 the Ministry provided all the necessary documents that allowed Ukraine to become Kimberley process member and to develop diamonds certification scheme.
