42 kg of jewellery were confiscated in Sheremetyevo
Over 14 thou chains, earrings, rings and other jewellery articles with total weight over 42 kg 200 g were confiscated in Sheremetyevo from a man who was travelling from Istanbul through Kiev to Moscow. A part of jewellery is made in the shape of Orthodox medallions but the gold, experts say, is produced in Turkey. This means that the articles were prepared for assaying as if they were produced in Russia and for selling in the country.
In 2004 66.8 kg of precious metals, 194 ct of gemstones and 90.3 kg of semiprecious stones were confiscated by the police in Russian airports.
