According to Gazeta.ru, Russian MMC Norilsk Nickel, a shareholder of SA Gold Fields Ltd., is unlikely to influence the cooperation between Gold Fields and Iamgold Corp.

It has been reported by mass media, Norilsk Nickel is not satisfied with the agreement as it has had its own plans and intended to prevent the merge of Gold Fields and Iamgold assets. However, CEO Gold Fields Ian Cockerill said in an interview that Norilsk Nickel wouldn’t influence the agreement as it was not against their common intentions.
