OJSC Krasnoyarsk Non-Ferrous Metals Plant will satisfy the international level
Igor Tikhov, the CEO of Krasnoyarsk Noon-Ferrous Metals Plant, was interviewed by Precious Metals and Gemstones Journal. Several aspects were discussed during the interview. In particular, Mr Tikhov expressed his opinion on Russia’s entry to WTO and its consequences on the Plant. He mentioned that Krasnoyarsk Non-Ferrous Metals Plant is the producer of high-quality metals and is widely known for this quality. That’s why Russia’s entry to WTO is unlikely to influence the company’s position in the sector.
As for jewellery production, the company faces problems even today and mostly they are connected with competitiveness. Even now the company suffers from current legislation system and is not able to compete with Italian and Turkish jewellery companies.
Krasnoyarsk Non-Ferrous Metals Plant is a leader a swell in Russian platinum jewellery production. It has started platinum jewellery production and pays great attention to it. However, the plant is a pioneer in Russian market and Russian customer has not enough money and confidence to buy platinum and palladium jewellery.
One more point was discussed during the interview and it was the legislation. Russian precious metals producers have an opinion that the federal law “On Precious Metals and Gemstones” doesn’t satisfy market reality and should be at least reconsidered. Mr Tikhov commented on the situation and said that the current legislation doesn’t help domestic producers. Moreover, the Plant is ready to discuss the problems and to make necessary propositions.
