according to ALROSA press service, the net profit of the company decreased in the first six months of 2004 by 9% as compared to the same period last year – down to 4.9 mln roubles. This happened due to the fact that the gains from GOKHRAN diamonds sales came to the company’s budget in August but not in the first six months. Thus ALROSA in the first six months lacked 700 mln roubles.

In the first six months of 2004 ALROSA sold products $1 bln 51.5 mln worth (last year this figure was $785.3 mln) including $65.4 mln gained from cut diamonds sales.
