Russian experience of Kimberley process
According to YASIA, this week the chairman of Kimberley process Tim Martin has met the president of Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Vyacheslav Shtyrov. They discussed the situation in the world’s diamond market.
Russia, being the second diamonds producer in the world, was one of the first countries that entered Kimberley process and contributed greatly to the experience of the organization. It was Russian monitoring model that was accepted as the basis of Kimberley process system. It is highly likely that next year Russia will become the chairman of Kimberley process and Mr Shtyrov will be the representative of the country.
