Russian Gold Portal publishes that three years ago 12 small gemstones were found in Leningrad region. However, experts say that there is little hope that kimberlitic pipes are present in the area. Nevertheless, several months ago De Beers was said to start diamonds searching in Leninrgad region. Thus, in the nearest future it is possible that the region may become one of Russian diamonds mining regions.
