Treasures found under the Manezh will be demonstrated in Moscow museums

As it has been reported by RIA Novosti, in September archaeologists plan to give a present to Moscow inhabitants and guests. They intend to demonstare the collection of treasures found under the Manezh in the centre of the capital.

Building works in this area were started in XII-XIII centuries. Before the Mongol conquest there was a temple in the place of Manezh and a cemetery. During archaeological digging works experts found about 50 burials dated from XII-XIII centuries. Women were buried together with their jewellery, that’s why various rings, bracelets and earrings were found there. Besides, archaeologists have dug several silver coins dated from XVII century and a golden two-rouble coin issued during the reign of Peter the Great.

All the collection will be exhibited in Moscow museums.
