Gazeta.ru and Vesti.ru report that Moscow police have confiscated a large amount of smuggled gemstones.

The gemstones illegally transported to Russia were found in the office of a wholesale jewellery company in Moscow. 17 thou diamonds, emeralds, alexandrites, topazes and rubies were estimated at over €2 mln. The manager of the company was not able to explain the origin of the gemstones found or to provide the police with certificates.

All the gemstones have been passed to the GOKHRAN.
