As it has been informed by PRIME-TASS, in the first quarter 2004 Omsukchanskaya mining company (Magadan region) mined 20314 tr oz at Juliet deposit. It is by 18% less than the same period last year. 79% of the company’s shares belong to Bema Gold.

This decrease is explained by the consequences of fire that took place at the deposit recently. The deposit was discovered in 1989, its resources being estimated at 18.6 tons of gold and 229 tons of silver.

In 2003 3.6 tons of gold were mined at the deposit. This year gold mining volume is planned to decrease down to 3.1 tons.
