According to ITAR-TASS, diamonds searching works will be conducted in Novgorod region. On April 13, 2004, the regional programme of geological exploration for 2004 was approved, 8.7 mln roubles will be allocated for this purpose.

Geologists inform that there can be diamonds mined in the region. Several investors are trying to get the licence for gemstones mining there.
