Norilsk Nickel restructures its gold business
Grani.Ru informs that MMC Norilsk Nickel plans to unite all its gold mining companies into one venture based on Polus Company. The new merger will be headed by Evgeniy Ivanov, ex-president of Rosbank.
However, there is no fixed scheme of Norilsk Nickel gold business restructuring. Two schemes exist at the present moment. According to the first, all the gold assets of Norilsk Nickel will be converted to a unified share; the second plan provides the forming of a holing company. The chairman of CJSC Polus Valeriy Rudakov expresses an opinion that this process will take 6 – 8 months. The new company is not named yet, but Mr Rudakov considers it logical to maintain Polus trademark.
The most modest estimation given to the new venture is $1 bln. Experts are sure that the cost of MMC Norilsk Nickel gold assets will rise together with gold prices and gold mining volumes.
