Tuva government insists that early-Scythian golden jewellery collection should be returned to the Republic
The governmental delegation of Tuva Republic has come to St.-Petersburg. The purpose of the visit is to make an agreement according to which the Hermitage will return a unique collection found in 2001 to Tuva. The archaeological finds will be demonstrated at the Hermitage at the beginning of March 2004. The exhibition will open in Arabian Hall and will work for two months. Then all the exhibits will be transported to Tuva. The government of the Republic considers the collection to be the property of Tuva and insists that it should be returned after demonstrating in St.-Petersburg.
The collection mentioned includes 20 kg of golden jewellery dated to early-Scythian epoch, V century A.D.
