ITAR-TASS broadcasts that on February 12, 2004, the Second Research Conference started its work. One of the event’s key topic is the Arctic Ural exploitation. The participants of the meeting are the governor of Yamal Yuriy Neelov, the deputy representative of the President in the region Viktor Basargin, heads of mining companies from Yamal, Yugra, Sverdlovsk, Tumen and Chelyabinsk regions, experts and scientists from Moscow, St.-Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Syktyvkar and Tumen.

The governor of Yamal has informed that there are numerous mineral resources discovered in the region and their resources are extremely large. There are, for instance, about 16 tons of gold found there.
