On the threshold of the Independence Day a gold mining enterprise has opened in Zhitikarinsk region, Kazakhstan. The first thirteen kg of gold have already been processes at Komarinskiy pit. In seven yeas about 15% of total Kazakh gold will be mined there.

Geologists state that there are huge reserves of gold in the region, but its exploitation was stopped forty years ago due to the technology’s shortcomings. Now, when the science has developed significantly, it is possible to start gold mining in the region again. Besides, new deposits, about ten of them, have been discovered recently there. In 2004 it is planned to launch one more gold mining enterprise in the region.
