There has been a meeting held devoted to the problems of illegal production turnover in Russian watch market. The meeting was held on the initiative of Rosinex, the organiser of Moscow Watch Salon. Russian companies watch-makers and largest distributors participated in the event.

The participants of the meeting agreed that the main harm caused to the industry’s development and Russian market’s spreading is made by the huge amount of watches imported to the country illegally. In particular, the volume of illegal watches import in 2002 was 17,9 mln pcs, and now it has grown up by 198%.

The meeting’s participants decided to address the Government of Russia, the Commerce and Industry Chamber of Russia in order to attract attention to the problem. It is necessary to fulfil a complex of measures supporting the legal participants of the market and fighting against illegal watches importers.
