Interfax reports that the President за Russia Vladimir Putin has signed the federal law "On amendments to the article 5 of the Law of the Russian Federation "On the State Secret". The document was accepted by the State Duma on October 15, 2003, and approved by the Federation Council on October 29, 2003.

According to experts, the law is aimed to exclude the data about platinum, platinoids and gemstones reserves, mining and consumption volumes from the list of the State Secret objects. The information about precious metals and diamonds kept in the GOKHRAN and the Central Bank of Russia is an exception.

These amendments will make the market more transparent, more predictable and attractive for foreign investments.
