ROSBALT Agency informs that Amber Bourse in Kaliningrad is considered to be inexpedient and unprofitable for the State. This opinion has been expressed by the executive of Amber Factory Oleg Skvortcov.

The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia has acted with an initiative to divide the factory into two parts: a state amber mining enterprise and a private jewellery and souvenirs production. The stone mined should be sold through the Bourse to all the companies that produce amber articles.

Mr Skvortcov mentioned that amber had never been an exchange goods as it was hard to sort into standard lots. Moreover, it is useless to sell the stone that costs significantly lower than products made of it. Plus, the right to sell stone through this bourse would be given to every trader, and it makes illegal amber mining seem legal.
