The Sixth International Business Conference "Russian Precious Metals and Gemstones Market: current situation and future development" (RPMG-2003) was opened on November 3, 2003, in Moscow.

The Minister of Economic and Trade Development G. Gref has directed his speech of welcome to the participants of the conference. The agenda of first plenary meeting included the reports made by Hariton A.G. (the president of the International Informatisation Academy), Rudakov V.V. (the chairman of CJSC Polus board of directors), Kotlyar Y.A. (CEO of Norilsk Nickel), Dokuchaev S.V. (the chairman of Lanta Bank board of directors), Perevedentcev A.V. (the head of the Assay Office of Russia).

The questions discussed at the first meeting included the problems of liberalisation of the sector legislation, the questions of the struggle against counterfeit production, taxes privileges etc.
