As it was reported by IA REGNUM, on September 18, 2003, there was a master-class held within the frameworks of international conference taken place in Chita. The agenda of the event included the question of Darasun gold ore deposit reconstruction. In 2002 a subsidiary of Highland Gold Mining Ltd got the licence for the deposit exploitation. The total volume of investments amounts to $34 mln, it is planned to exploit the deposit for minimum 25 years.

The problems of Udokan and Chiney deposits were discussed as well. Their exploitation was decided to be of great importance for the country’s economics and the region’s development. However, the form of Udokan licencing had not been set yet. The master-class’ participants worked out the recommendations for the Ministry of Nature and the Ministry of Economic Development as well as for miners and officials of Chita region.
