MMC Norilsk Nickel has set about “golden business” seriously
Utro.ru publishes that by 2006-2008 MMC Norilsk Nickel plans to have increased gold mining volume up to 100 tons a year. According to M. Finskiy, the deputy chairman of the company’s board of directors, the shareholders of MMC have approved the strategy of gold business development that provides Russian largest gold mining company creation.
Acquiring of OJSC Lenzoloto A-shares (44,9%) allows MMC mining 40 tons a year at the moment being. Now Norilsk Nickel possesses 1005 of Polus Company’s shares (mines about 13 tons of gold a year), 50,6% of the Matrosov’s pit’s shares and 65,87% of OJSC Lenzoloto voting shares.
