As it has become known to Profile, SUE Zvezdochka, a submarines-building factory situated in Archangel region, will manufacture jewellery. The enterprise has been already allotted 1,5 mln roubles from the municipal budget as a credit for the project.

In 2000 with assistance of Smolensk Kristall Company diamonds cutting department was created at the factory. Today both industrial and jewellery diamonds for about $5 mln a year are cut at Zvezdochka.

The company used to buy raw diamonds mined in Yakutia, but at the beginning of September 2003 Severalmaz Company (ALROSA’s subsidiary) began local Lomonosov’s deposit exploitation. In this connection Zvezdochka Company plans to double diamonds cutting volume in a year.
