On August 23, 2003 there was a new industrial complex of JSC ALROSA put into operation in Nyurba (Sakha Republic). This event is said to be of great importance for both Russian and world diamonds mining industries. The complex will reach its full capacity (diamonds for $300 mln annually) next year — this will allow Russia to maintain its second rate in the world’s diamonds mining volume.

Alexei Kudrin, the Minister of Finance of Russia, Vyacheslav Shtyrov, the president of the Sakha Republic, Vladimir Kalitin, the president of JSC ALROSA, and other officials attended the opening ceremony.

Ecologists state that all the necessary measures have been taken in order to make technological processes at the complex harmless for the environment.
