On December 18, 2002, the meeting of gold manufacturers took place in Ulan-Ude, and it was devoted to the sector problems discussion. This year the gold miners of Buryatia have established a record - more than 8 tons of gold. According to the Committee of the precious metals of the Republic, the result of the year will amount to about 8,2 tons that is by 400 tons more than last year level.

However, according to the experts, the explored golden resources of the republic are enough for only 11 years. In 2003 Buryatia is planned to become a participant (together with Yakutia and Magadan region) of the special federal programme of geological exploration works financing.
