The gold miners of Buryatia have established a record - more than 8 tons of gold in 2002. According to the Committee of the precious metals of the Republic, the result of the year will amount to about 8,2 tons that is by 400 tons more than last year level.

Today more than 60% of Buryat gold are mined by "Buryatzoloto" Company. In 2003 Buryatia is planned to become a participant (together with Yakutia and Magadan region) of the special federal programme of geological exploration works financing.
