The President of Yakutia, Vyacheslav Shtyrov, commenting upon the expansion of the company, declared that "ALROSA" should control diamonds wherever they are present.

Mr. Shtyrov mentioned that the company's business in Archangel is being developing well and industrial diamonds mining is expected to begin at the end of 2003 there. Geological exploration works are being performed in Irkutsk region and Evenkia, but geological characteristics of the area are not very favourable and brand new methods of diamonds searching are required. The results of geological examination in Primorie are still being estimated, experts express the opinion that diamonds resources in the region are not great but they are present.

Talking about second diamonds mining company creation in Yakutia, the President of the Republic informed that the founder of the company is the Committee of precious metals of Yakutia.
