NOVEMBER 4 ![]() "ALROSA" is likely to decrease the volume of diamonds export this year
Diamonds mining company "ALROSA" has sent an offer to the Ministry of Finance for five-year quotas on gemstones export. Although the President decree on quota enhancement has not been signed yet, "ALROSA" has made five-year plan. However, this year the company may not manage to keep an agreement concluded with De Beers on $800mln diamonds export. The agreement has not been approved by the antimonopoly department of European Commission, and export quota fixed for "ALROSA" for this year is significantly less than that declared in the agreement. According to the vice-president of "ALROSA" Yuriy Dudenkov, the company plans to begin gradual increase of diamonds export quota next year as gemstones manufacture volume will raise as well. Last year "ALROSA" managed to sell diamonds for $1bln in the outer market. This year the figure can change and become significantly less. Now the diamond company exports gemstones only through De Beers. New five-year agreement between "ALROSA" and De Beers on gemstones delivery for $800mln a year was signed last year in December and is to come into force this year. Source: "Izvestiya"
