Yakutia. Public concerns regarding the future of "ALROSA"

On Novvember 23 a public meeting took place where the local community expressed its concern regarding the future of Russia's largest diamond company- ALROSA. It was agreed to address the President with this issue.

The reason for such an appeal were the minutes of the meeting in the Ministry of Property Relations , where the representatives of Federal Departments informed Yakutian authorities on their intentions to introduce some radical changes to the diamond mining company. The summ of taxes paid by the company is 3/4 of Republic's budget.

Many representatives of the public found it especially frustrating the fact that the existence of such minutes was not only not made known to the public, but kept strictly secret.

The appeal refers to the unfair practice of the politicians who hold the future of teh whole Yakutian nation in their hands, by attempting to take control over "ALROSA" and to deprive the republic of all possible sources on which its development depends.
